Spread love, it’s the Brooklyn way! All roads for the next few day will lead to straight to Brooklyn, New York. The annual Brooklyn Music Week has returned with an amazing line-up of events. Did you miss the official kick-off yesterday, Wednesday, August 30? There is no need to worry! There are four more days of music experiences throughout the borough wrapping up on Sunday, September 3rd.  Check out our favorite events as part of Brooklyn Music Week below.

Brooklyn Music Week Presents: America’s Next Hot Music Producer returns to NYC with the “Reggae Inna Trap House” producer competition with host comedian Marcus Banks. This episode is a not to be missed opportunity for those in the music industry. Fueled by a roster of high wattage beatmakers infusing classic

Reggae into Hip-Hop and Trap beats, the experience is sure to be captivating. Fresh off of the success of the Movie Music, Classic Cartoons, Remixes and Sample That Sitcom episodes, this episode of America’s Next Hot Music Producer is the third episode dedicated to Reggae music.

The “I Am Brooklyn” Art Festival is a two day curated expo for creatives and musicians alike. We invite you to come and experience artistic expression inspired by the diverse culture of Brooklyn. Day 1 is dedicated to ‘Music Art and Dance’ and will include an interactive dance performance from 4 pm until 7 pm.

FilmIndie Cinema Club & Melanin Mixer Poetic Justice Screening

Join FilmIndie Cinema Club and The Melanin Mixer on September 1 at 7 PM for a backyard kickback in celebration of the first annual Brooklyn Music Week! We’re screening the 1993 cult classic, Poetic Justice, which follows the budding romance of a grieving hairdresser and an ambitious postman, played by music legends Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur.

The grill will be going, the Spades and dominoes tables will be out, and the playlist will be on point! Screening starts at sundown (around 8:30 pm).

Limited tickets are available, so don’t wait to get yours! $15 admission includes the screening, light bites and movie snacks. Beer by suggested donation, courtesy of Brooklyn Brewery. All proceeds will support The City Reliquary!

Day 4 (Saturday, September 2, 2017)

Body Paint Party

The Body Paint Party will be Brooklyn Music Week 2017’s final party and will be an experience to remember! The competition will begin at 9pm sharp and $500 will go to the best body painter/model team. Each body painter can enter a maximum of 3 models. There are a limited number of spaces for painters so register early. The secret location will be announced 24 hours before the event.

Pre-Launch Mixer of Brooklyn Music Week 2017 was held on Thursday, August 17th at Freehold in Brooklyn which featured an art exhibition, acoustic session with the borough’s rising talent followed by the official pre-launch after party with top industry influencers in attendance.
