The third annual Guard D’Avant Progressive Music Festival returns to Newark, New Jersey’s downtown arts district beginning on Tuesday, July 5th with featured headliner, recording artist Topaz Jones.
The festival’s founder, Peter Winstead, Jr., a highly respected alternative R&B vocalist and songwriter, as an artist saw the void of summer programming focused on fostering rising talent and in three years his vision has become a major staple in the community’s summer must-attend events.
As the owner and creative director of The Honors Program LLC., whom officially produces this annual event with generous sponsorship from Rutgers University – Newark, Newark Celebration 350, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and Shea Moisture to name a few, Winstead, Jr. uses these live performances to not only entertain but highlight the importance of arts education.
The five-week outdoor festival will be held on Tuesdays beginning on Tuesday, July 5th until Tuesday, August 2nd in the newly redesigned Military Park located between Raymond Boulevard and Sarah Vaughan Way just off of the north end of Broad Street.
On Tuesday, July 5th, The Honors Program proudly welcomes headliner Topaz Jones with additional performances by Stolen Jars and MOOK featuring DJ Avi Obvious.
