girlpuppy’s debut album When I’m Alone was a collaborative effort across the indie alternative community. While girlpuppy is proud of that body of work, she’s ready to step firmly into her own sonic ideas.
The project’s singles “I Just Do!,” “Champ,” “Windows,” and “Since April” are merely a tip of what’s to come on March 28. In a statement, girlpuppy spoke to this “newfound creative independence.”
“Sweetness was built entirely from[my] own lyrical and melodic ideas,” she said. “Emerging from a relationship where [I] felt sidelined, [I] embraced a more personal, texturally rich sound, crafting a record about pushing back against self-doubt.”
Although girlpuppy is solely at the helm of the forthcoming album, she did not close to door to collaboration all together. In fact, she tapped fellow songwriters Alex Farrar and Tom Sinclair on multiple tracks. Musicians Chris Bailoni (keyboardist), Matt Winship (drummer), Holden Fincher (guitarist), Farrar (on the keyboard), and Sinclair (on bass) can be heard throughout Sweetness‘ instrumentation. Dimiri Giannopoulos also contributes backing vocals on Sweetness.
