Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter Jordyn Simone continues to build up her original catalog with the release of her new single “Drown”. Since competing on American Idol in 2016 and appearance on her The Voice in 2018, Simone has been working on developing her own unique sound outside of the popular covers viewer may have come to know her for.
Co-written by Ncognita, “Drown” chronicles sexual vulnerability while blending the best of soul and pop music. With production by newcomer TJ the track’s soulful groove is reminiscent of Ari Lennox’s “BMO” and the catchy pop-like lyrics help the track to pierce into the listener’s brain in a way past singles “Intuition” and “Adrenaline” did not.
When asked about the formation of the track, Simone replied, “while I was in this relationship, I felt extremely empowered by my femininity, so much so that I felt as though I needed to write about it.”
