Grammy Award-nominated vocalist and songwriter Destin Conrad is known for many things. But atop the “Make It Up” singer’s most beloved attributes list are his eclectic sonic sensibilities and dapper approach to fashion.
So, Conrad’s recently revealed partnership with British footwear and clothing brand Dr. Martens fit like a new patent Oxford. As the company set out to celebrate the 65th anniversary of its iconic 1461 shoe, Conrad joined in on the fun posing for a promotional campaign.
In an intimate conversation with the company, Conrad reflected on when his love affair with Dr. Martens began.
“I got my first pair of Docs in 6th grade,” Conrad revealed. “Me and my best friend at the time had matching pairs. We were so cool.”
He continued, “If you asked us at the time, we definitely started the trend at our middle school. When I put a pair of Docs on, they feel familiar; I feel comfortable and at ease.”
In addition to the stylish photoshoot, Conrad hosted an intimate party dubbed “An Evening With Dr. Martens” to commemorate the brand’s industry-shifting contributions to footwear, fashion, and long support of artists.
At the event, Conrad’s longtime friends and collaborators Grammy Award winner Kehlani and Mack Keane showed their love. Other notable attendees included fellow musicians Channel Tres and UMI. Each entertainer gave a nod to the brand, wearing their personal favorite piece.
For Conrad, those were the 1461 Smooth Leather Oxford Shoes. Kehlani was spotted in 1461 Ambassador Leather Oxford Shoes. Both Mack Keane and Channel Tres opted for the 1461 Leather Arcadia Shoes.
