It’s been a long two years since CKay‘s last studio release, Emotions. Well, after touring the world and dropping singles “BODY (danz),” “African Girls,” “Badaminton,” and “E CLEAR,” the Afrobeats star is ready to share his highly anticipated follow-up, BANGER BOY.
As the forthcoming body of work’s title declares, this album has one goal—get folks moving. However, don’t think that means CKay will detour from his deeply emotional songwriting. In promotional materials shared regarding the album, BANGER BOY is described as a combination of “a rebellious attitude, rockstar-minded energy, and unabashed emotional vulnerability.”
Although much of the project is anchored in the dreaded days following heartbreak, on BANGER BOY, CKay manages to craft something for the journey through the pain and back to the dancefloor in search a new lover.
According to details floating around X (formerly Twitter), BANGER BOY also includes background vocals by Astro and Lynn. The project features guest appearances by Mavo, Kidd Carder, Phyno, Maleek Berry, & King Promise, production by Cixxx, BMH, Fez, Vishem and more, with supporting instrumentation by Vishen & CJ Obassey on guitar as well as Gideon Awheela on piano.
