If there was any one thing we’ve learned throughout the rollercoaster ride of 2020, remaining in tune with your spiritual centering is important now more than ever. Soulbounce DC-based vocalist and songwriter Cecily’s new single, “Spirit Tell Me” is the vocal manifestation of that alignment.
Co-written and produced by fellow DMV recording artist Muhsinah, “Spirit Tell Me” is a melodic chant of unifying affirmations, the harmonious merging of your physical and inner well being. The track is the perfect blend of Solange and Liana De Havas.
Cinematographers Mignotae Kebede and Mansa Johnson truly match the track’s energy on the breathtaking visual features respectful nods to the Yoruba religion with single shots of cowrie shells, alter libation offerings, and more.
Cecily took to social media to share a bit of insight behind the creation of the song as well as the visual stating, “this year has taught me so much about trust, about intuition, about flowing through life. You don’t always know the way. Things become so murky and shaky and disquieting, and that’s when you must find the quiet again. Meditate, pray, pour libations, ask for guidance, but most importantly… listen,” Adding, “listen to that intuition intently, and go from there. It was intuition that told me to focus on getting the song & video for ’Spirit Tell Me’ out before the year was over. I’m so grateful I listened, I flowed with the process, and I trusted my collaborators and myself fiercely!”
