According to Cate Le Bon, her upcoming seventh studio album, Michelangelo Dying, is a “creation led by pure emotion.”
This raw expression of expression explodes on the project’s new lead single, “Heaven Is No Feeling.”
“I see you watch me watch you / Watch me move away / You occupy the space / Like a ribbon untied / What now? The night? It all ends / And you smoke our love / And you smoke it in silence / And it takes more time than you’d ever give up / Don’t you want more love than you’ve ever dreamed of? / I don’t wanna change / It’s gonna put me on the line trying,” sings Cate Le Bon.
In a statement, Cate Le Bon outlined the inspiration for the album. “The product of all-consuming heartache, [the] feelings overrode her reluctance to write an album about love, and in the process became a kind of exorcism,” she said. “What emerges is a wonderfully iridescent attempt to photograph a wound before it closes up — but which in doing so, picks at it too.”
