Honestly, Big Thief’s ‘Double Infinity’ Single ‘All Night All Day’ Is A Warm Worship Track

The band is back together. Although Big Thief never formally split, the group’s lead singer, guitarist, and primary songwriter, Adrianne Lenker, spent 2024 focusing on their solo music.

Now, Big Thief has reunited. After announcing their forthcoming studio album, Double Infinity, the group released its lead single, “Incomprehensible.”

To follow up “Incomprehensible,” Big Thief has dropped Double Infinity’s second single, “All Night All Day.” On the record, Big Thief’s signature use of bright pops of instrumental sequences (thanks to Dom Monks) creates a warm feeling of gratitude. However, the consistent thread of tambourine playing, paired with Lenker’s hopeful lyrics, elevates “All Night All Day” from a run-of-the-mill alternative song to a modern worship tune.

“You scratch my skin to help me feel / ‘Cause I ask you to / We see the blood returning / Reaching through the veil / Teach me / It’s you I’m learning,” sings Lenker.

The song’s chorus emphasizes this sense of spiritual surrender: “Swallow poison, swallow sugar / Sometimes they taste the same / But I know your love is neither / And love is just a name / It’s a thing we say / For what pulls through / ‘Til we come together.”
