Earlier this month (May 6), Ibeyi fans celebrated the four-year anniversary of the duo’s Spell 31 album. But the “Lavender & Red Roses” musicians had something extra special brewing behind the scenes for supporters.
On May 15, sisters Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Diaz popped onto their official social media page to announce several major professional updates. First, the pair shared their hypnotizing new song, “Aset,” which was co-produced with Michaël Brun.
“We wanted to come back to you with Aset’s voice and confidence,” wrote the duo on Facebook. “We wanted to come back to you with Naomi’s dancing and with the sound of the drums. We wanted to come back to you… but first we had to go home. ‘Aset’ is the start of something new. These are all our offerings.”
The last line of the duo’s statement subtly referenced Ibeyi’s second major announcement. Come June 26, supporters can look forward to their long-awaited Spell 31 follow-up Offering.
In the metadata shared on Apple Music and Spotify, fans will notice Ibeyi’s forthcoming body of work, Offering, marks their debut on a new label. While 2022’s Spell 31 was released on XL Recordings, Offering will be shared through Ibeyi’s namesake label, IBEYI Records, with AWAL licensing. Ibeyi have not yet publicly addressed the reason for their departure from XL Recordings.
