Here Is Everything We Know About PJ Morton’s Album ‘Saturday Night, Sunday Morning’

PJ Morton is a multifaceted musician. Still, the Grammy, Stellar, and Dove Award winner has been pressured to split his creative self into digestible sectors. Well, Morton says no more.

Next month, PJ Morton will release his long-awaited follow-up to 2024’s Cape Town To Cairo. On the forthcoming body of work, Saturday Night, Sunday Morning, Morton will blend his sonic worlds—gospel and R&B.

The two-sided album will serve as the official bridge of these music worlds. With two lead singles already out, “Mutual” and “Mercy,” supporters have a taste of what each half (gospel and R&B side) has to offer.

In a statement shared with ENVERT, PJ Morton discussed his professional mission behind Saturday Night, Sunday Morning.

“I’d always been made to choose,” said Morton. “Growing up in church, I loved gospel music. You could feel it in your soul. But R&B and soul music, that got me too. There was always an unspoken rule that you had to choose one or the other.”

He continued: “But is that a true reflection of life? Are we all one thing all the time? Is the soundtrack the same for having a worship experience with God as it is for falling in love? I’ve been fortunate enough to exist in many of these spaces authentically.”

Morton ended by saying, “I was the same person when I wrote ‘Let Go Let God’ as I was when I wrote ‘Say So.’ I didn’t want to choose this time. I’m both Saturday night and Sunday morning.”
