Jelly Roll Gives Firey Testimony During His 2026 Grammy Awards Speech For Best Contemporary Country Album

Jelly Roll is one of country music’s hardest-working stars. Well, the “Save Me” singer’s endless hours and ubiquitous presence paid off big at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

After walking away empty-handed during the 2024 ceremony, last night (February 1), Jelly Roll pulled off a clean sweep across three categories. The most striking win came when Jelly Roll took home the trophy for Best Contemporary Country Album.

Competing against Kelsea Ballerini’s Patterns, Tyler Childers’ Snipe Hunter, Eric Church’s Evangeline vs the Machine, and Miranda Lambert’s Postcards from Texas, Jelly Roll’s Beautifully Broken snatched the win in the newly instated category.

During his acceptance speech, Jelly Roll got fired up when discussing his personal testimony which fulled the project.

“First of all, Jesus, I hear you and I am listening, Lord! I am listening, Lord!” proclaimed Jelly Roll. “Second of all, I want to thank my beautiful wife. I would have never changed my life without you. I’d have ended up dead or in jail. I’d have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus. I thank you for that.”

He continued: “There was a time in my life, y’all, when I was broken. That’s why I wrote this album. I didn’t think I had a chance. There were days that I thought the darkest things. I was a horrible human. There was a moment in my life when I only had a Bible this big and a radio the same size in a six-by-eight-foot cell and I believe that those two things could change my life. I believe that music had the power to change my life, and God had the power to change my life.”

With a pocket sized Bible in hand, Jelly Roll closed his speech, saying: “I want to tell y’all right now: Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by one political party. Jesus is not owned by no musical label. Jesus is Jesus and anybody can have a relationship with him. I love you, Lord.”
