Anjimile Shares Amorous Single ‘Like You Really Mean It’ From Their Newly Announced Album ‘You’re Free To Go’

Valentine’s Day came early—at least for Anjimile. Nearly three years removed from the pain-centered body of work, The King, Anjimile is back and in a space anchored in love.

To usher fans into their whimsical state of mind, Anjimile shared their amorous new single. The Brad Cook-produced record serves as the lead for Anjimile’s forthcoming album, You’re Free To Go.

Far from the overwhelming mushy-gushy downbeat sonic signatures often associated with love songs, “Like You Really Mean It” is carefully coated in fuzzy bass arrangements and bouncing drum pockets, making it the ideal ballad for every indie yearner in your life.

“The water the water ran High / I laid my body by the river rocks / beneath the sky / And time became a song that carries on without me / Should’ve known / I should’ve seen it / Come and kiss me like you really mean it,” sings Anjimile.

In a statement shared with ENVERT, Anjimile spoke about the inspiration behind the record.

“I wrote this to make my girlfriend want to give me a kiss,” they said. “We live about an hour apart, and I was just by myself thinking about her. Thinking about wanting a kiss. What could I do to get a kiss from my sweetheart? Write a song about it! Anyway, it worked.”
