Here’s Everything We Know About: James Vickery’s Album ‘James’

It’s been four years since James Vickery released his debut full-length album, Songs That Made Me Feel. But the wait for a follow-up is nearly over. This Friday, September 12, James Vickery’s long-awaited sophomore album, James, will finally hit streaming platforms.

Of the forthcoming album, fans will find that they are familiar with four previously released songs (“All In,” “Right Side,” “Butter,” and “Hotel Lobby”). But there are eight new tunes for supporters to dive into, including “Like That” featuring BIA.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Vickery opened up about the significance of his upcoming sophomore album.

“Two and a half years ago, I was ready to give up music,” wrote Vickery. “I felt like I had given everything I had to offer as an artist, and I was exhausted.”

He continued: “A dear friend and host of Kiss FM, DH Ace took me to the SXSW festival in Texas (and I hadn’t told anyone), but in my head, this was the perfect send off for my artist career.”

However, what Vickery thought was his final goodbye actually turned into him joining the Red Bull Records roster.

“As life tends to be the case, I ended up getting signed off the back of that show, and since then, my life has changed,” penned Vickery.

He then closed by describing the sonics of James, writing: “I wanted a sound that really reflects who I was. A perfect combination of the soulful sound that everybody loved, but also something that showcased me as a vocalist. Something smooth but also makes you want to move. Something that got me outside of my comfort zone.”
