Grace Potter’s Performance Of ‘Before The Sky Falls’ On CBS ‘Saturday Session’ Is An Intoxicating Walk Down Heartache Lane

Back in May, Grace Potter’s latest album, Medicine, was released to the world. On the outside, this 12-track project marks the expansion of Potter’s discography. However, this body of work carries significant emotional weight.

Firstly, Medicine in fact isn’t a new project. According to Potter, the T Bone Burnett-produced LP was initially recorded in 2008 but “wound up shelved.” Now that Medicine is available to the public, Potter is basking in her creative victory. Next, the lyrics of each record paint vivid pictures of Potter’s innermost thoughts.

During an appearance on CBS’ Saturday Sessions, Grace Potter delivered an intoxicating performance of the piercing record, “Before The Sky Falls.”

Potter lets her yearning spill onto the morning show set with each line. “I saw the lightning come just before the rain / And I felt the knife before I felt the pain / And I saw my city crumble into dust / If only we could fall in love before the sky falls on us
Before the sky falls on us / Let it fall down like a flag at a funeral / Let us fall down into a place we’ve never been / And now the walls are coming down / And there’s shaking in the ground / If only we could fall in love,” sings Potter.
