Everyone’s walk in faith takes a different route. For the ministers of music in the Gospel, each generation has a leader crafting an innovative soundtrack for the journey. Over the past few decades, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Lecrae, and Mali Music have carried the throne. Now, the responsibility falls onto Wande.
The recording artist’s latest single, “In The Light,” is a blend of melodic rap and electronic dance music. For the video directed by The Colemans, Wande pulls from the Ballroom community to turn her walk with Christ into an irresistible strut.
“I became a better me when I gave up the sin / Hold up, better me came when I gave it all to Him / Child of God, you know my Lord cannot be stopped / Defeating the odds, you know I’ll never fear an opp / May His goodness go before you / All around you, let Him guide you / In your coming and your going / He is for you, yeah, He is for you / Walk in the light,” raps Wande.
The visual’s color-grading emphasizes that Wande doesn’t have anything to distract her from the word. Alongside her fierce dancers and sharp choreography, Wande’s footsteps are ordered. The video is yet another stellar work to add to her collection (hi, “Come My Way“).
