Boston’s own Almost Owen is calling back better days and happier tunes in his new EP Felt Cute…Might Delete. The 3-track EP, self-produced and mixed by Almost Owen, is back to back upbeat pop songs. While different from what listeners have become accustomed to hearing from the rockstar, Almost Owen ensures that’s the point.
The singer took to Instagram to share “[The tracks] have [a] different kind of vibe–weirdly optimistic and happy sounding. I thought, given the state of things, it might be a welcome distraction or a ray or prismatic light in this deeply absurd moment.”
The first track, “Love and Company,” pulls listeners in right away with light piano chords leading into guitar as AO sings about loving someone and only needing their company. This romantic energy is followed by “Heart Stop,” a song with a groove that gets listeners up and dancing. The EP closes with “What It Means to Be Alive,” which is about breaking free.
Thinking about his life, Almost Owen, reflects on how he’s been playing it safe and not taking chances. When he finally lets go, he reminds not only the listeners, but himself, what it means to really live. By the time the last chorus rolls around, listeners will be belting out the lyrics with AO and his ensemble.
